Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce opens in Stockholm

The first meeting between the Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce held with Swedish agencies and companies at the Georgian Embassy in Sweden.

Officials representing Georgia met Swedish representatives in Stockholm today at the opening of the Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce.

The event opened today thanks to the efforts of Georgia's Embassy to Sweden, stated the press office of Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier Sweden noted its interest in getting involved in various energy projects in Georgia. 

In this scope, the Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce has already started establishing contacts with Swedish regional chambers of commerce and Swedish companies involved in the energy sector. The purpose of cooperation was to attract investments for building new Hydro Power stations in Georgia.

The first meeting between the Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce was held with Swedish agencies and companies at the Georgian Embassy in Sweden. The meeting was attended by President of the Chamber Bengt Karlstrom, manager of Central Sweden Chamber of Commerce Anna Holmstrom and President of Swedish company Green Energy. 

The honorable guests were hosted by Georgia's Ambassador to Sweden Konstantine Kavtaradze.

Kavtaradze assessed the establishment of the Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce as an important step forward in developing bilateral economic relations. He emphasized that more Swedish companies were becoming interested in the Georgian market.

Latest data showed 14 Swedish companies were now represented in Georgia, including ABB, Swedbank, Skania, Ericsson, Telia-Sonera and Oriflame.

Karlstrom, president of the Swedish-Georgian Chamber of Commerce noted he had a Georgian grandfather named Giorgi Gachechiladze, who was a member of the economic mission to Scandinavia in 1918.
