A group of Georgian law enforcers have undergone training on document examination and identity fraud in the Netherlands to better protect Georgia and monitor those coming into and out of the country.

Nine Georgian officers took part in the training, which was part of the European Union (EU)-funded project Reinforcing the Capacities of the Government of Georgia in Border and Migration Management.

The five-day visit to the Netherlands was organised by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

During the intensive five-day course the Georgian officers were trained on document security techniques, printing techniques, document examination, digital printing techniques, and security elements in documents.

The training was designed to develop document examination skills within the Georgian Patrol Police.

Representatives from the Patrol Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and one representative from the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, successfully completed the Advance Level Document Examination Training Course. The course was offered by Dutch experts from the Identity Fraud and Documents Centre of Expertise of the Royal Constabulary in Schiphol, the Netherlands.
