The name of the magazine is City but it’s all about the country Georgia.

The first English-language issue of the iconic Georgian fashion-lifestyle magazine has been published and is being sold around the country, filling a large hole in the media market for the English-speaking community.

While it follows the Georgian magazine style, the English edition of City magazine is not a translated replica of the Georgian version but is filled with its own unique content suitable for foreign residents, guests and tourists.

The English version of City magazine shows readers the best places to stay, unmissable items to ‘take away’, the top destinations to visit, as well as stories from around the country. Successful businessmen and women feature prominently in the magazine. Fashion is also in focus, and readers can get lost in the latest trends from the local market.

Georgia has a lot in common with other countries and this first issue concentrates on Italy. The main photo session was inspired by the 1953 movie Roman Holidays. Georgian model Tamuna Tabatadze replicates the iconic images of Audrey Hepburn exploring the narrow streets of the Italian capital.

The first edition also shines the spotlight on Georgian opera diva Anita Rachvelishvili, who shares her thoughts and impressions about life in Italy. In the pages of the magazine you can also meet several Georgians who call Italy their second home, as well as Italians who now live in Georgia.

The column Tan Tsaige (Take Away) promotes special souvenirs from Georgia, like the Tbilisi Silk Map scarf or golden jewellery inspired by Georgian history and legends.

‘Must See in Tbilisi’ takes readers to hidden places in Georgia’s capital that are not indicated in the guide books. The magazine’s editorial team also reviews recently-opened hotels in Georgia’s top autumn destinations – the ancient Vardzia cave city, mountainous Kazbegi, Tskaltubo spa resort and the popular Kakheti wine-making region.

Head of the National Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze gives readers tips on travelling to 10 Georgian destinations. Of course there is also important news from Tbilisi Fashion Week and a segment on local designer Demna Gvasalia, who was appointed creative director for Balenciaga fashion house.

The Georgian edition of City magazine was founded by journalist and famous TV host Eka Khopheria five years ago.

As the publisher, Khopheria signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Georgia’s National Tourism Administration yesterday to ensure the magazine can be found in tourism centres and hotels across Georgia, and in future, featured at international tourist conventions.
