Preliminary results: Georgian Dream candidates win by-elections

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) coalition has won the By-Elections 2015 in Georgia, preliminary results of the Central Election Commission (CEC) reveal.

The CEC finished counting votes of all voting stations in both Sagarejo and Martvili regions, where the by-elections of the Parliament of Georgia took place. The results were as the following:

Sagarejo

  • GD candidate Tamar Khidasheli – 49.5 percent
  • Alliance of Patriots candidate Irma Inashvili – 45.8 percent
  • Three independent candidates together – about 4 percent

Martvili

  • GD candidate Soso Danelia – 72.5 percent
  • Alliance of Patriots candidate Eter Medzvelia – 27.5 percent

Meanwhile total voter turnout in Sagarejo was about 34 percent and in Martvili about 40 percent.

As for Sakrebulo (local council) by-elections in Dmanisi, Vani, Khobi and Sagarejo, the GD candidates won the race in each municipality, preliminary results show.
