Conjoined twins born in Georgia have been successfully separated in a complex five-hour operation in Germany.
Six-month-old girls Tamar and Tebrole, who were conjoined at the chest, underwent surgery at the Cologne Municipal Hospital.
Today it was revealed the girls were in a healthy, stable condition after the surgery, which took place two weeks ago at the West German hospital. The twins spent two weeks in recovery and were discharged yesterday, Deutsche Welle reported.
The twins were born conjoined at the chest; they shared a kidney and chest tissue.
Specialists at the hospital said the procedure lasted about five hours.
Now the twins will undergo rigorous physiotherapy at their relatives’ home in Germany.
