Ceramic works and sculpting pottery techniques will be displayed and taught at the International Festival of Ceramics in Georgia’s resort town of Gudauri.

Beginning this Saturday, the Festival will host master classes teaching people how to make local handcrafts, and buy traditionally-made items.

Organisers said "world class Georgian and foreign masters” would take part in the program to demonstrate various pottery techniques.

Ukraine’s Marta Berezhnenko said she had discovered an "entirely different school of ceramics” in Georgia, while Silvia Ranchicchio, who has travelled from Italy for the occasion, told local reporters she hoped the Festival would demonstrate to visitors the unique process how ceramics are made.

The Festival will be held in Gudauri’s Marco Polo Hotel and supported by White Studio ceramic workshop and Workshop Gallery.

Visitors of the Night of Fire festival will be able to try their own hand at sculpting clay, decorating items and heating them in special ovens, built specifically for the occasion at Festival locations.

A number of companies are scheduled to present their products at the event that aims to raise awareness and popularity of the art of pottery. Other activities will include a competition between visitors and a special stand for children to learn the art of creating clay items.

Georgian wine tasting and a folk concert was also mentioned in the program, while the single-day Festival will conclude with a fireworks display.
