Heads of Georgia’s diplomatic missions abroad will gather in Tbilisi this week for the annual Ambassadorial event to discuss Georgia’s role in the global world.

Over three days Georgian officials working here and abroad will rub shoulders with foreign guests at the 2015 Ambassadorial, held in capital Tbilisi on September 2-4.

The formal opening of the Ambassadorial will include addresses by President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and newly appointed Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili. The event will be attended by envoys of the Government’s executive and legislative branches as well as diplomatic corps serving abroad.

Norway’s Foreign Minister Borge Brende, who is coming to Georgia on an official visit later this week, will also speak at the conference.

The Ambassadorial will feature working sessions on September 3-4 and involve an assessment of the work of diplomatic missions abroad and discussions on subjects of foreign and interior policy. The sessions will involve high-ranking officials of the Government and include meetings with non-governmental organisations.

Besides formal meetings, the 2015 event will feature a charity evening at the Tbilisi State Conservatory for young residents from the Georgian-controlled areas near the Russian occupation line that borders Tskhinvali (South Ossetian) territory.

A special program for spouses of the chiefs of diplomatic missions will be held during the Ambassadorial.
