Free admission to all Georgian museums on May 18

Museums are the place to be on May 18 in Georgia as the country and the rest of the world celebrates International ‪‎Museum Day‬.

Georgia will join the celebration and mark the occasion with free admission to all museums across the country on Monday.

All Georgian museums have planned creative events and activities for Monday and some them have even decided to host special celebrations for the entire week. 

Here are some of the events people can attend from May 17 to 24.

  • May 17, 5pm - Vitali Kapanadze Anniversary Exhibition at Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts;
  • May 18, 6pm-10 pm - The 'Sergo Parajanovi - 21st Century Dream' exhibition at Ioseb Grishashvili Tbilisi History Museum;
  • May 18, 3pm - Architect-Restorer Zinaida Kuprashbili's 'Incrustation' exhibition at Sighnaghi Museum;
  • May 20, 5pm - The 'Pirsomani's Day' event at D. Shevardnadze National Gallery;
  • May 23, 12pm - 'Archaeology for All' educational program for pupils at G. Chitaia Museum of Ethnography and S. Janashia Museum of Georgia;
  • May 24, 10:30am-6pm - Educational programs and games for all visitors at G. Chitaia Museum of Ethnography;

International Museum Day is a large-scale celebration worldwide. Last year more than 35,000 museums from 140 countries from all continents marked the occasion.
