Georgian leaders stress European future in address to nation

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Georgian Orthodox Church Patriarch Ilia II address the nation few minutes before the starting of the New Year 2015.

Georgia’s European future and top priorities of the Government were the main topics of the leaders’ New Year greetings.

"The past 2014 year was historical for our country. It brought us closer to Europe. The future of Georgia is European. It was the aspiration of our great ancestors and it is our aspiration also. We spare no efforts to achieve this goal,” underlined Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in his greeting.

"Our unity is the foundation of the Georgian state’s success, also the responsibility and the faith of our citizens and the Government to the country. We can do much more. And we need to stand together today as never to transfer our homeland to the strong European state,” stressed Prime Minister.

"This year was hard for the whole region, but we manage to keep stability and peace in our country in these hard times,” he said.

Irakli Garibashvili named economic development, creating of the new working places, better health care and education as the top priorities for the next year.

"Unfortunately some of our citizens live in the very hard conditions. That is why our main goal is to develop economy and producing.”

Irakli Garibashvili also sent greetings to the Abkhazians and Ossetians.

"I believe that we will gain trust of our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers and will fight together for our country’s unity.”

President Margvelashvili also assessed the 2014 year as the very important step to the Georgia’s European future.

"I believe that we have everything in our centuries-old culture to achieve this goal. We have talent and skills. If we spare no efforts Georgia will become strong, united, country, where all of us will have opportunity to serve our families and homeland with honour,” emphasized President at the New Year Eve.

"The year 2014 was of great significance for our country and even though we still don’t live in delight, we have taken very important steps this year,” added Giorgi Margvelashvili.

Georgian Orthodox Church leader addressed the representatives of all nations and religions living in Georgia and also the compatriots living abroad.

"There may be some troubles on the road but do not be afraid. Everything will pass away and Georgia will be happy,” Ilia II said.

Patriarch Ilia II finished the address to the nation with the "Blessing pray”.
