Large quantities of drugs have been seized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Sarpi Border Checkpoint.
As a result of the investigation, Turkish citizen Mehmet K, 37, was detained by officers of the Department for Combating Human Smuggling and Illegal Migration.
The Ministry claimed the man had 201 pills and two "lumps of drugs", believed to be Ecstasy, in his possession.
This amounted to 21.182 gr of the drugs, which was said to contain 1.367 gr of amphetamine.
Georgian experts are continuing to investigate illegal drug use, including purchase, possession and drug trafficking. The investigation will also look into how drugs are being transported over borders and into Georgian territory.
