Building new roads and improving water supply across the country are "top priorities of 2014, the Government has announced.
Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, David Narmania, presented the 2014 action plan at a media conference today.
He said all infrastructural projects that are planned to be executed this year will begin in spring.
"We spent the first months of 2013 revisiting projects, re-announcing tenders and the 2014 year will be different from this point of view, he said
"All tender procedures will be completed by early spring and the implementation of projects will begin. Furthermore, transition projects that started in 2013 will actively continue, announced Narmania.
He noted that the main priorities of the Ministry this year will be road construction and improving water supply throughout Georgia.
"The main priority for us will be the construction of domestic and international roads. We will work on roads of different categories that lie on more than 250 kilometres. Highway works will double and instead of three sections covered in 2013, it will cover seven different spots, including the Tbilisi-Rustavi Highway.
"Water supply works will also be a top priority and the 60 million GEL project that is currently being executed in Kutaisi, Poti and Anaklia will continue. In addition, new projects to improve water supply will be financed by the European Investment Bank and carried out in 25 municipalities and three towns of Georgia, Narmania added.
Work will also continue on solid waste management and dump settlement purposes.
Meanwhile, construction of modern ski lifts at Tetnuldi is expected to begin later this year.
