Agricultural development, universal health insurance and depoliticizing the State structure have been highlighted as the Government’s significant achievement by Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili in his opening speech in Parliament today.

Margvelashvili said the Government had paid special attention to pensioners, refugees and socially disabled people, since it came into power.

"When the Government cares, its citizens prosper, which is sign of high political consciousness,” the President announced.

"I deeply welcome the large scale project of universal health insurance, which was the symbol of social equality politics,” he added.

Meanwhile, developing Georgia’s villages is one area the Government has achieved success, Margvelashvili emphasized.

"The agricultural development project made a big influence on rural people's lives. As a result of this project, many families have the possibility to earn a living by engaging in small and medium business. People supported this project,” Margvelashvili said.

Today was the President’s first introduction and speech in Parliament.
