Georgia’s ruling political party Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia is entering a new phase where involving and participation of the party members and activists is of utmost importance.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibahsvili, who is chairperson of the ruling party, addressed party members and activists today.

"I believe Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia will be the party that will gather thousands of supporters, [the party will] protect their interests and play an important role in the democratic development of the country,” Garibahsvili said.

"I want to call on the young people to join us. I want to build a strong Georgia with you,” the PM stated.

Garibashvili claimed the party would soon start holding party conferences in Georgia's regional areas. He ordered the party's Secretary General Kakha Kaladze and Political Secretary Giorgi Volsky to organise these conferences.

"There will be regular meetings with our party members, supporters and activists,” Gharibashvili said.

He claimed the efforts of everyone who worked hard and faithfully would be appreciated properly.

"A lot of people who have participated in the party building process since the very first day felt as if their commitment has not been appreciated properly. I want to let you know that this was because of the difficulties which the country had to go through. Fortunately, we all have already overcome those difficulties,” Garibashvili said.

He also assessed the past two years and said the country's ex-PM Bidzina Ivanishvili set up the new party Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia at the most decisive stage for the country. Since then, the party has united people with common ideology and values.

"Our party did the almost impossible in these two years – as a result of great effort and an unrelenting fight, it came into power through elections and became the leading political power. Even political parties with many years of experience often can’t reach this success. This is a sign that our party will become even stronger, [it will] continue activities with more energy and be formed as a modern, European type of party, a party that is trusted by citizens and that carries out people’s interests”, the PM stated.
