A session of the Georgian parliament in Kutaisi has descended into a brawl over a f-word used by one opposition lawmaker.
Furthermore, MPs were debating re-distribution of seats in the Georgian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE), when in his speech opposition lawmaker from United National Movement (UNM) party, Akaki Bobokhidze, used f-word in address to ruling Georgian Dream (DG) coalition MPs.
The row between the MPs lead to a fist fight between several members on the parliament floor at various parts of the chamber.
Some MPs also were tearing off microphones from desks and throwing them at political opponents.
However, GD MP Zurab Zviadauri, who holds Olympic gold in judo, jumped over desks during fist fight.
Parliament speaker, Davit Usupashvili, who was calling in vain on the colleagues for calm during fist fight, believed that it was impossible to leave such incidents without response.
"All the measures outlined by the parliamentary regulations should be applied,” Usupashvili said.
After a nearly fifteen minutes fist fight voting was held and new distribution of seats in PACE delegation was adopted.
Re-distribution of seats in the Georgian delegation to the PACE was caused by the withdrawal of Free Democrats (FD) faction from the GD coalition early November.
FD gained a seat in the five-member PACE delegation, however reducing UNM’s two seats to one. The decision was opposed by the UNM.
