New faces to appear within UNM party

United National Movement (UNM) has begun the second phase of renewing the party.

One of the party leaders Giorgi Vashadze said each member of the party would be involved in the decision-making process.

An event dedicated to the new party developments was held at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel today and attended by UNM leaders, members and party supporters.

At the occasion, Vashadze announced that new faces would appear within the party.

"We will create a party which will be a platform for people who shares our values.”

Vashadze said Mayors and Governors would be identified in all regions through primaries and chosen candidates would enter the electoral list for 2014 self-government elections.

"Heads of regional organisations are elected by direct and secret ballot voting for two years. In addition, a district council is being formed, whose members will also be elected by direct and secret ballot voting,” he said.
