PM Garibashvili to visit Germany

PM will attend the official opening of the conference and ceremonial reception.

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will embark on a two-day visit to Germany to take part in the 50th Munich Security Conference (MSC).

At the independent event, world leaders will identify priorities in the field of foreign policy and security.

The Prime Minister will mark the launch of the Munich event and will attend the official opening of the conference and ceremonial reception.

In his speech at the MSC, the Prime Minister will inform European leaders about Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and current reforms, the PM’s press service announced today.

He will describe ongoing processes in region as well as Georgia's expectations regarding the Euro-Atlantic integration process.

He will also speak at the Global Power and Regional Stability session – a separate event.

Within the framework of the MSC, Georgia’s Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meeting with:

  • OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier
  • United States Atlantic Council President and Executive Director Frederick Kempe
  • U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel

  • President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev
  • Foreign Minister of Germany Walter Steinmeier

  • American diplomat Henry Kissinger
  • German businessman Ulrich Grillo

Following the MSC, Garibashvili is set to be interviewed by the German weekly magazine FOCUS and television broadcaster ZDF.

He has also been invited to attend a business lunch and official dinner hosted by Germany’s Prime Minister Horst Seehofer in the Bavarian region.

The Georgian delegation, which includes the PM, Foreign Affairs Minister Maia Panjikidze and Defence Minister Irakli Alasania, will depart Georgia for Germany tomorrow.
