A United National Movement member and his family have a total annual income of 45 million GEL, non-government organization The Young Lawyers reveals.
The organisation aimed to study a person and their family to determine their combined annual income.
The group's research showed UNM and former Secretary of National Security Council Giga Bokeria and his family had an annual income of about 45 million GEL.
The organisation studied official data from Bokeria’s 2013 property declaration.
"Our subject of interest was to see if Bokeria’s family members are involved in economically profitable businesses. As it turns out, his wife, father, sister-in-law and her husband are actively engaged in business, The Young Lawyers representative Archil Kaikatsishvili said.
"Based on public information, the whole family has an income amounting to 45 million GEL per year. They own shares in different successful companies and in many cases their shares amount to 100 percent.”
Kaikatsishvili said the organization would continue to embark on this type of research.
"We will examine property declarations of current Government members and investigate their possible links with business. This will be a permanent study and results will be delivered to the public periodically.
"I would like to underline that the study is fully based on public information. Government representatives have an obligation to publish yearly declarations and we analysed this material” Kaikatsishvili added.
