Doctor and patient die in suspicious circumstances

The family of a man found dead in Tbilisi have been questioned by Georgian authorities.

A doctor and his patient were been found dead in Tbilisi yesterday. Authorities believed the deaths were suspicious.

The deceased have been named as Anzor Bekurashvili, 33, and doctor Zurab Bendeliani. They were found dead in a building on Mitskevitchi Street in Tbilisi.

Bekurashvili’s family members of were questioned bythe Prosecutor’s Office until late last night.

The law enforcement agency was interested what information Bekurashvili’s brother had regarding the controversy between his brother and the doctor.

Police have not released any information about the incident.

Employees of the Maternal and Child Preventive Medical Center, where Bendeliani worked as a doctor, dermatologist-venereologist, claimed he killed his patient after the patient threw an explosive device into the room where the doctor was. Both died later died.

According to witnesses, the doctor shot the patient but could not escape the fire which had started as a result of the explosion. It is alleged the doctor was burned and was a cause of his death.

When firefighters arrived at the building to extinguish the fire, one body was found in an examination room and another body was found in the entrance of the clinic.

Ministry of Internal Affairs have begun an investigation into the incident. The Ministry have filed the case as aggravated murder.
