President of Turkey Abdullah Gül is expected to visit Georgia.
After a week of Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili returned from a two day visit to Turkey, the President’s Advisor in Foreign Affairs Vano Machavariani announced that in the nearest future the Turkish leader would visit Georgia.
"The Turkish side expressed its readiness to arrange a visit to Georgia to further deepen the countries’ mutual cooperation. Plans are also in place to create a tri-lateral initiative between Georgian, Azerbaijani and Turkish officials in political, economic and trade spheres,” Machavariani said.
He believed the recent visit of Georgian President Margvelashvili to Turkey was successful, and the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip ErdoÄan also showed willingness to consider a future visit to Georgia.
Margvelashvili visited Turkey on January 21 and 22.
