Modern art created by late Georgian contemporary artist Karlo Katcharava is on display at the German Cultural Institute, Goethe-Institute in Georgia.
‘Karlo Katcharava and Germany’ was the title of the exhibition, which included art pieces connected to German-Georgian relationships.

Almost 30 paintings from the late artist’s collection were opened to the public on October 11 and will continue for the remainder of the year at the Alexandre Chavchavadze House Museum in Tsinandali.
Katcharava (1964-1994) was an art critic, artist, poet and prominent representative of modern Georgian art.

His works were heavily influenced by German expressionistic art and were housed in galleries and museums all over the world.
The current exhibition was dedicated to the 20thanniversary of the Goethe-Institute. The exhibition was part of a German-Georgian joint venture and aimed to improve future cultural relationships of both countries.
Kacharava was born in 1964 and graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. From 1986 until his death in 1994, he worked as a junior researcher at the Tbilisi Institute of Arts History. In his lifetime he also worked at Francuaza Fridrich Gallery, Köln in Germany.

His work is renowned and appreciated all over the globe. In Barcelona in 1990, Kacharava’s art work was involved in a BIAF International Festival, Barcelona.
The Goethe-Institute was founded in Georgia 20 years ago – the same year Katcharava passed away. He died aged 30 after suffering from a brain hemorrhage.
