Members of the Georgian Dream (GD) faction of the Adjara Supreme Council do not trust the people currently in power and are asking the Government of Adjara to resign.

The GD faction said they were unhappy with personnel changes made to the Government’s Administration and demanded Council members take a vote of no confidence in the autonomous republic’s new leadership.

The GD offshoot asked the 21-person Adjara Supreme Council to take a vote of no confidence, in which 14 members must approve the vote for it to be legally enforced.

But this move has angered those at the GD headquarters in Tbilisi, with some calling the actions of their Adjarian counterparts as malicious. They highlighted this decision had been made without agreement from GD leadership and its political council.

GD announced it would hold a political council meeting on September 14 to discuss the issue with political leaders.

On August 27, head of Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Archil Khabadze announced personnel changes to the Government Administration, which caused immense dissatisfaction from members of the GD faction.
