Georgia celebrates creativity at Innovation Park

A special centre where creative Georgian entrepreneurs can get together and develop their innovative ideas will be built in Georgia.

The technological and innovation development centre and hub for economic and innovation ideas development will be named Innovation Park and be built in Tbilisi.

The project aimed to discover and support innovative ideas, said Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili at a presentation of the project today.

The centre will be equipped with all basic technologies and laboratories.  

The Economy Minister believed Innovation Park would be available for start-up and early-stage companies as well as for international corporations.

"People with original ideas have the opportunity to commercialise their innovative ideas and develop their technological achievements in Google, Microsoft and other companies,” Kvirikashvili said.

The man responsible for innovation development in the country - chairman of Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency Irakli Kashibadze –believed Innovation Park would be a hub for economic development where creative and innovative individuals and organisations could implement their technical achievements.

"Good ideas can be converted into high income businesses,” Kashibadze said. He believed Innovation Park would be a place where people worked, collaborated, researched and enjoyed recreational opportunities.
