PM appoints Prosecutor General

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili has appointed Giorgi Badashvili as the country's latest Prosecutor General.  

Badashvili was nominated as a candidate by the Minister of Justice.                                      

"Badashvili was chosen considering his qualification, professionalism and good reputation, the Prime Minister stated this evening.  

Badashvili, 32, graduated from the Georgian Technical University Faculty of Law. Since late-November last year, Badashvili has worked as head of the Investigation Department at the Prosecutors Office.  

Before, Badashvili held the role of deputy head of the Anti-Corruption Agency at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. His career started at the Ministry of Finance where he held several positions from June 2006 to May 2013.  

To complement his native Georigan language, Badashvili also speaks fluent Russian and English.
