Heavy rain and strong hail upsets Shida Kartli region

Crops, orchards and farming land in Georgia’s eastern regions have been "completely devastated” by a powerful hail storm.

Yesterday evening large hail inflicted serious damage in Gori and Kareli municipality villages. A 20 minute hail storm devastated many crops and harvests, orchards and agricultural land.

Apple and apricot orchards, vineyards and vegetable plants were totally destroyed. Zerti locals said they had loans to reap the harvest.

The hail caused several villages to be cut off from electricity.

At this time, the total amount of damage is unknown and locals are asking for help.
