Georgian soldiers celebrate New Year in Afghanistan

Georgian soldiers performed traditional song and dance as they celebrated New Year in Afghanistan.

The servicemen are participating in an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission. Batumi Separate Light Infantry and the 31st Battalions of GAF welcomed New Year at base Leatherneck. Command of the Task Force Belleau wood and commanders of coalition countries also attended the reception.

Georgian soldiers congratulated guests on New Year with a concert. They performed Georgian folk songs and dances. At the end of the ceremony, 18 soldiers who had won sporting and intellectual contests were awarded gifts and diplomas.

Thirty military servicemen were also awarded "Devoted for Homeland service medals for their merit in strengthening defense capability of the country. The medals were presented by Commander of the 31st Battalion, LTC Giorgi Meshveliani.
