The President of Poland has congratulated Georgia on signing the Association Agreement (AA) with the European Union (EU).
Polish President BronisÅaw Komorowski phoned Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili earlier today and said Poland was interested in ratifying the important trade document as soon as possible, the Georgian President’s Administration announced today.
During the phone conversation, Komorowski expressed his support to Georgia as it embarked on the AA ratification process.
The two leaders also spoke about the current period after the AA was signed and noted Georgia was now an associate member of the EU and played a significant role in relations with other countries in the region.
Before the phone call ended, President Margvelashvili invited his Polish counterpart to Georgia.
Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine signed the AA, which includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) with the EU on June 27 in Brussels.
The occasion has been lauded as a historic step in which the country will make great political and economic progress.
