President: AA will benefit every Georgian family

Signing the Association Agreement (AA) with the European Union (EU) is a historic moment, Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili told journalists after the AA was signed this morning.

The President is today attending the Georgian Defence and Security Conference (GDSC) in Batumi. Margvelashvili noted that the Agreement would benefit every Georgian family.

"From the moment the agreement was signed, we have deepened the already stated foreign policy and we will work for Georgia to become a real member of the European Union. I think this is a historic moment. Georgia is gettinf closer to the European family,” he said.

Earlier today Margvelashvili mentioned the agreement in his speech at the opening of the GDSC.

"We applauded and supported our delegation, which will sign a historic agreement with the European Union in several hours. The AA will bring Georgian people well-being, more stable and democratic institutions and will create more responsible and need-oriented Government,” he noted.
