A Georgian winery has won top honours at a prestigious wine competition in France.
Khareba Winery was awarded two gold medals and one silver medal at the Les Citadelles du Vin international competition in Bordeaux.
The winery was awarded a gold medal for its Chateau Lipartiani 2011, a dry red wine and its Khareba 2011, a dry red wine. It’s Mtsvane 2013 – a dry white wine, received the silver medal.
The competition took place on May 17-19 but winners were only revealed at the end of May.
Les Citadelles du Vin is held annually in May during the Vinexpo competition, under the patronage of the OIV.
Each year more than 50 top tasters from all over the world meet in Bordeaux and select the winners after sampling more than 1,200 wines from 30 countries.
