Former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili has reminded the Government and the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance that crime limitation is 12-14 years and eventually they will pay for the crimes against him.
Sometime before this date expires, the current government wont be in power and I will make sure they will take full responsibility on the crime connected to my mistreatment, Merabishvili said at his ongoing process in Kutaisi City Court.
Merabishvili commented on the Ministry report, which stated the former PMs allegations of blackmail and mistreatment were unjustified.
He said his mistreatment was a direct order given personally by former PM Bidzina Ivanishvili to Irakli Garibashvili that was "brilliantly executed by the Chief Prosecutor.
Meanwhile, Georgian Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili said there were still many unanswered questions about this case so it was important a complete investigation was carried out.
"An investigation should be conducted so that the public gets comprehensive information in this regard, the Ombudsman said.
"An investigation is the best way to find out whether it [Merabishvilis blackmail] really occurred or not. An investigation should answer all the questions, and I still have some questions that remain unanswered.
