Georgia's beauty and culture is being showcased to a group of honourary consuls of Georgia from all over the world.
It is the first time Georgia’s Foreign Ministry is hosting the international guests.
Georgia has 21 honourary consuls in 16 countries. Thirteen of these are in Georgia to attend a meeting with Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze.
At today's meeting, talks were held about an institute of honorary consuls, activities they will complete and issues relating to future work.
Meeting with honorary consuls will become constant, Panjikidze said after the meeting.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a new initiative. This is to personally meet Georgia’s honorary consuls. We want this to become traditional and held once a year," she said.
"We talked about the priority issues for this country and the role of honorary consuls abroad. We also held a presentation of Georgia as a place of investment,” Panjikidze said.
One of the tasks the Foreign Ministry gave to the guests was to work on attracting foreign investments to the country.
Head of the Ministry's Consular Department said the functions of the honourary consuls already included attraction of investors and investment.
"We paid more attention to countries where there is more potential to attract investments. Investments and investors still remain important tasks of Georgia," Giorgi Tabatadze said.
This evening, the international guests will attend events dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia.
