The National Democratic Institute (NDI) will observe the election environment of Georgia during the expected local self-government election in June 15.
The delegation of the NDI has already arrived in Georgia and held the meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili today.
Preparation for the local government elections, activities of political figures and election environment was the main discussed issues during the meeting.
"The Georgian government is doing everything to ensure that all political parties are given an opportunity to conduct a fully-fledged election campaign,” said Gharibashvili at the meeting.
Prime Minister also has informed the delegation regarding the moratorium which was announced for the performance of legal procedures to the individuals involved in the election campaign and he has explained that the goal of the Georgian Government is to conduct the democratic, free and fair elections.
During the meeting the importance of the work of interagency committee for free and fair elections was emphasized.
Within the framework of the visit the delegation is conducting meetings with the authorities, the candidates who participate in the elections, leaders of the political parties, the representatives of election administration, civil sector and international organizations.
