Parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili said if it was his judgment, he would not initiate the candidate of Otar Partskhaladze to the chief prosecutors post, who is facing lingering allegations over his criminal record.

"Because of the chief prosecutor has a criminal record in Germany, I would not appoint him to the chief prosecutors post if it was my judgment. The reason is that this would be used for these kind purposes, Usupashvili said.

Referring to the fact that if there is reason for sacking Partskhaladze from the post; he said that he would not discharge him. "If we decided to appoint him and agree that this is not such kind of moral problem, the sack of Partskhaladze from the post for this reason would not be the right step, he stated.

Gigi Ugulava, who was suspended from the Tbilisi mayoral post, accused Partskhaladze of serveing one year and three months of a prison term in Germany after he was found guilty of robbery and theft in 2001.
