PM Garibashvili confirms Chief Prosecutor’s criminal record

The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili confirmed that the Chief Prosecutor had a criminal record in Germany during the announcement of the TV show Pozicia at Rustavi 2.

Gigi Ugulava, who was suspended from Tbilisi Mayoral office, accused Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze of having an armed robbery conviction.

"The Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Otar Partskhaladze has been tried by the Augsburg District Court according to Article 249 and 252 of the criminal code of Germany for armed robbery. He was sentenced to detention for one year and 3 months in the Augsburg penal institution. Additionally he was deprived of passive electoral rights and the right to occupy certain positions. said Gigi Ugulava on December 23.

However, the day after, the Chief Prosecutor Partskhaladze stated that he truly had an incident with a policeman in Germany in 2000, but no measures of compulsion were followed.
