Wounded military servicemen traveled to the USA. The injured soldiers will undergo prosthesis program in Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic, San Diego, California, USA. Today family members and fellow servicemen seen them off at Tbilisi international airport.
Eight wounded military will undergo the treatment course in the USA at the first stage. They were selected according to their specific injuries. One Georgian specialist also accompanied the wounded servicemen to the USA in order to master the working controls of the X3 type bio-electrically controlled prosthesis. The Georgian, Dr. Major Zviad Burdzga will observe their rehabilitation course as well.
The soldiers will be provided with bio-micro prosthesis. They will be able to easily move on difficult terrain with the help of the advanced electric limbs. The new prosthesis, that is resistant to extreme conditions, will enable the military personnel to pursue a more active life. A rehabilitation course at Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic is individual designed for each serviceman.
Totally 19 military servicemen will undergo the prosthesis program and rehabilitation course in the USA. 866,000 US dollars has already been allocated from the reserve fund. In the future, 2 816,519.20 US dollars is planned to be allocated from the MoD budget. This program will include all military servicemen with amputations in future.
