Government approved Action Plan on EU integration in 2014

The Commission for Integration of Georgia into the European Union approved the 2014 Action Plan as part of the 2014-2017 Strategy of the Government of Georgia for Communication and Information on European Integration.

The communion meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili discussed the urgent issues pertinent to cooperation between Georgia and the European Union before signing the Associated Agreement with EU.

The aim of the strategy is to inform the Georgian citizens about the advantages of EU integration in a simple way, the popularization of EU themes, to provide the academic, business and civil sector with relevant information about EU.

According to the State Ministry of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili, the strategy depends on three main aspects including education, information, and supporting the EU integration.

"Nothing will halt the Georgias integration to EU structures including the signing the Association agreement with EU because it is the will of the Georgian people, government, and the support of EU in this way, Petriashvili said.

The communication strategy document that is composed of 26 pages also includes the international communication strategy as well as the partnership.

"Georgian people have to know what does the EU integration means and in the framework of the strategy, we plan plenty of activities including the conferences, seminars, and forums for the target audiences, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze.

The European Union is eager to speed up the signing of the Association Agreements (AA) with Georgia and Moldova by August, 2014 "at the latest according to European Council President Herman Van Rompuy.

Georgia initialed the Association Agreement (AA) and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with EU at the Eastern Partnership Summit (EaP) in Vilnius on 28 November.
