Georgias foreign trade increased 4% year-to-year in the first eleven months of 2013, equal to 9.681billion USD with the trade gap (negative trade balance) at 4.446 billion USD which compose 46% of the total trade turnover, according to figures released by the state statistics office, Geostat, on December 23.
Exports grew by 20 % reaching 2.618 billion USD, while the imports decreased by 2% and amounted to USD 7.064 billion with respect to the same period of the previous year.
Export with the EU member countries increased by 65% and 29% with the CIS countries. The share of country groups in total Georgian trade turnover in January-November 2013 is led by the CIS countries by 35% followed by the EU countries with 27%.
Turkey remains Georgias largest trading partner with 1.367 billion USD (14.1%), followed by Azerbaijan 1.191 USD billion (12.3%); Ukraine - 724 million USD (7.5%); Russia 679 million USD (7%) and China - 549 million USD (5.7%).
Vehicles remained the number one Georgian export, amounting 638 million USD followed by ferro-alloys 204 million USD. Petroleum and petroleum oils top the list of imports totaling 841 million USD in the first eleven month of 2013.
