Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister: 'US delegation supports Georgia on Geneva Talks’

Georgian delegation has discussed the issue of ethnic-Georgians discrimination in Gali region during Geneva Talks.

The Russian government doesnt intend to be responsible for use of nonviolence with the Georgian territory. said the Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Davit Zalkaliani after the two-day peace talks in Geneva.

According to the Georgia's chief negotiator Zalkaliani, his Russian counterpart Grigory Karasin emphasized this fact clearly.

"We will continue debates about this issue within the next round. The Georgian participants once again emphasized the need to revive discussions in relation to the creation of international security arrangements. said Davit Zalkaliani.

In the framework of the 26th round of Geneva Discussion, the Georgian delegation has discussed the issue of ethnic-Georgians discrimination in Gali region in the breakaway territory of Georgia. According to the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, Georgia had great support from the US delegation.

The Georgian side also discussed barbed wire fence installation process across the Georgian villages, which has continued since December 18 by the Russian soldiers after the two-month break.

"We have expressed our distinct negative position toward the barbed wire installation process. The US delegation appealed to Russian side for stopping this action which is a violation of human rights. said Davit Zalkaliani.
