Parliament recommends Prosecution to investigate 2004-2012 criminal cases

The Georgian Parliament asks the Ministry of the Internal Affairs and the Chief Prosecution to investigate all the criminal cases occurred in 2004-2012.

According to MP EkaBeselia, the Parliament received a petition with 20,000 signatures, demanding those cases to be studied and assessed politically or judicially properly.

"We had been studying the reports by the international official structures about particular criminal cases for several months, Beselia said. According to her, during these years, the systemic problem was violations of basic constitutional rights, such as right to life, prohibition of inhuman treatment, freedom of expression, right to fair court, freedom of manifestation, right to private life, protection of property.

"The Interior Ministry and the Chief Prosecutors office should discuss all the cases given in the 24-page report. They need to investigate all the famous criminal cases that happened in these years, MP Beseliasaid.
