The European Commission will allocate 27 million EURO to Georgia which will go towards projects improving management of the job market, with better linkage between education, skills, and market needs.
Funding was made available through the Eastern Partnership Integration and Cooperation (EaPIC) program.The program was launched in 2012 and provides additional funding to countries in the Eastern Partnership that make progress in reforms for deepening democracy and human rights.
The total funding granted in 2013 amounts to 87 million EURO, distributed among three countries: Moldova (35 million EURO), Georgia (27 million EURO), and Armenia (25 million EURO).
Last year, Moldova was granted 28 million EURO, Georgia 22 million EURO, and Armenia 15 million EURO.
"This year, three Eastern partners were rewarded for their efforts in democratic transition and their commitment to fundamental values. We hope that this group will grow bigger in the future. Additional funding means more support for national reforms and joint projects that bring concrete benefits to citizens lives, said Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, tefan Fe, on December 12.
The Eastern Partnership countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
