At a special briefing held today, the head of the parliamentary faction of the Georgian Dream party, Gia Volsky said the United National Movement spreads false information as if they convinced the entire world that the Georgian Dream was not intended to issue a special statement on recent events in Ukraine.
"It is a lie, - Volsky said. According to him, the UNM statement has anulterior political purpose.
"Disinformation is a common thing for them, but in this case, their statement is aimed at discretization, MP said.
Volski says the parliament has made its statement which was quite weighted and reality oriented. The statement significantly considers the assessments of the EU and west about the ongoing events in Ukraine.
Volskys statement was preceded by BBCs and other western media coverage of the physical altercation between MPs at the Parliament of Georgia. The confrontation started after the MP from ruling party verbally insulted the MP from minority.
The case is that BBC mistakenly reported that the Georgian MPs confrontation started over the Resolution to support Ukrainian protesters. The same happened with Daily Mail which wrote an article under the headline "Fight breaks out in Georgian parliament over Ukrainian protests. BBC however wrote that Giorgi Baramidze from the UNM called on the MPs to actively support the anti-governmental protest rallies. According to BBC, the ruling party MP SosoJatchvliani was angry with Baramidzes plan and followed with the physical altercation. Later however, BBC corrected its headline and the story also.
