Heavy snow isolates several villages in Adjara

The residents have been without electricity for the last five days due to snow in Khulo.

The several villages in the mountainous regions of Adjara are isolated due to the heavy snow, with cover as much as 200 cm.

According to the Municipality of Khulo (Adjara), residents have been without electricity for the last five days. The calls to the Emergency Management Agency and Emergency Situations Department are more frequent from the mountainous villages, according to the above mentioned department.

Heavy snowfall blocked roads. Trailer operations are restricted on the highways from Tbilisi to Eastern Georgia. Only vehicles with anti-skid tire chains are allowed on the roads. The brigades are on 24-hours working schedule to remove snow from the roads in Western and Eastern regions of Georgia.

The special brigades are still working to restore electricity in West Georgia.

The snowfall began in Tbilisi more than two hours ago. The National Weather Station forecast frost in the West Georgia on December 14. During the nighttime hours the temperature may fall to -22 C in the mountainous regions and -6 in Tbilisi. Snow has been predicted in Tbilisi and East Georgia on December 13.
