Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili announced that a government should be always careful not to use excessive force during demonstrations.

Saakashvili gave an interview during his Visit to Ukraine to the local TV TBI and talked about the current developments in the country.

According to him, there were questions about dispersal of demonstrations that happened during his presidency too.

"When we were carrying out reforms, corrupted people that lived in the center of Tbilisi and also honestly unsatisfied population came out in the streets. They had good financial support from Russia, there were rallies, and I resigned. I reduced one year of my presidency. I told them - we want to continue reforms, but I wont be able to carry them out without a new mandate. I dont hide that I will continue the reforms, part of you are not satisfied with them, but that wont change our course, said Saakashvili.

According to him, on the elections followed by his resignation, more than 54% of voters voted in favor of reforms and he gained victory in the first round.

"Of course, rallies are held everywhere and clashes with the police happen all the time, but I think that when youre in government, you should always be careful not to use excessive force. We have learned many things and when I resigned, there were huge rallies for several months. We didnt do anything and they stopped the demonstrations by their own will, but at the same time we held a dialogue with them, Saakashvili announced.

As for Ukraine, he described the developments in the center of Kiev as the global struggle for Ukraines future.
