Georgia welcomed its five-millionth foreigner visitor for 2013. This is an unprecedentedly large number of tourists for the country, according to the National Tourism Administration.
Mateusz Werner, a Polish citizen, who crossed the Georgian border at 4:00 pm on December 1, was rewarded by the Georgian Tourism Administration. Werner will be welcomed, for two nights each at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Tbilisi and the Rooms Hotel in Kazbegi, a mountainous town in north-eastern Georgia at an elevation of 1,740 meters above sea level.
"It feels like I won the big lottery. It was such a great surprise. Im so happy. Georgian tourism is improving, obviously. I love your people and your country, said Mateusz Werner who was on the jury for the Tbilisi Film Festival.
According to Giorgi Sigua, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, five million foreigner visitors a year is the absolute record for Georgia.
