EU Ambassador to Georgia, Philip Dimitrov commented on the summarizing conference of Vilnius Summit in Georgia.
According to him, Georgian people made a choice for the better future of the country.
"I want to begin my speech by congratulating Georgia on its latest achievement the recent initialing of the Association Agreement in Vilnius. Getting closer to Europe is, of course, a matter of choosing. I constantly talk about this topic and want to once again congratulate Georgia on this choice, which is oriented on the better future. We constantly observe local peoples opinions and let me tell you, there is the greatest support of the pro-Western policy in this country. This strong support facilitates the governments job in this direction and guarantees that the European course will be maintained, said Dimitrov.
He stressed that the initialing of the Association Agreement will presumably result in the signing of the official document in one year. However, Georgia needs to put a great effort for this result. According to Dimitrov, "Georgia needs to maintain democratic values and balanced approach between the various branches of the government.
EU Ambassador also talked about Georgias late Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania and pointed that his name deserved to be remembered constantly.
"I had the honor to know Zurab Zhvania in person. He was one of the leaders of the Rose Revolution, who took the responsibility of putting Georgia on the European path. He deserves his name to be always remembered, announced Dimitrov.
The conference entitled Eastern Partnership Roadmap after Vilnius Summit opened today and is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Zurab Zhvania.
