Two TV stations, Imedi and Rustavi 2, have launched two separate exit polls for todays presidential election.
Rustavi 2 TV has hired Nuremberg-based GfK, a market research company, which was commissioned by the Georgian Public Broadcaster for exit polls during the 2010 Tbilisi mayoral election and 2012 parliamentary elections.
While Imedi hired ACT, a Tbilisi based polling group for the presidential exit polls. More than 240 interviewer of ACT will conduct research in 120 polling stations in Tbilisi and 10 other regions of the country. Every second voter will be interviewed and anonymity will be preserved.
According to GfKs Vice-President Vadim Volos, the company aims to conduct around 8,000 interviews in total across the 115 polling stations.
"The poll will be based on strict random sampling principles throughout, as this is the most likely way to achieve the most accurate results. Results will be collated each hour; obtained data will be checked, said Volos.
The initial results of the two exit polls are expected to be announced on October 27 at 8 pm. The final data will be revealed at 10 pm.
