"Georgian governments ultimatum to the Russian government to reject the independence of Abkhazia and South Osetia, for the restoration the Russian-Georgian diplomatic relations, is quite unreal, stated the Head of the International Affairs Committee of Duma (Russian Parliament), Aleksey Pushkov on Twitter.

Aleksey Pushkov also mentioned that its impossible to return to the past for rewriting the history.

Two days before, throughout the NATO Ministerial, the Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze told her Russian counterpart that diplomatic relations with Russia would be restored only after Russia de-occupies Georgian territory.

"For Georgia, it is very desirable to restore this kind of relations with Russia as it is directly related with the de-occupation and withdrawal of recognition (of breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia) stated Panjikidze.

The Georgian government cut diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation after the August War in 2008. Currently, Russia has over 20% of Georgian territories occupied.
