Georgian Speaker of Parliament gave a speech in hotel Radisson today, at a conference dedicated to the governments future plans in the field of human rights.

As Usupashvili announced, the new government has more than enough experience not to make the same mistakes, as the previous one.

"25 years ago, a young group of lawyers gathered and began to think about the model of the Constitution for independent Georgia. Back then, we had this attitude that the Constitution should list citizens duties and that it has nothing to do with human rights. We didnt get the concept then, because the Constitution was only a list of peoples duties. Said Usupashvili.

He added that for 25 years, the country was captivated by this concept. One government was prioritizing the independence of the country over human rights, the next government was putting territorial integrity first, and the government that came into power through Rose Revolution, declared that formation of the state and its modernization was more important that human rights.

Usupashvili believes that the current government will not repeat these mistakes.

"We have to realize, that if we are moving towards Europe, then todays Europe is human rights. announced the head of the Parliament and added that in Europe, person is a central value and every government is limited to respecting the human rights.
