GUAM Parliamentary Assembly adopted two documents. First is the declaration which is the document of the member states and the second, a statement joined by the Baltic Parliamentary Assembly and Poland from Visegrad group.

The main aspirations expressed by the GUAM member states are reflected in the documents.  Particularly, aspirations towards Europe and issues connected with conflicts were the focus.

Conflicts are especially crucial in the documents, what in turn is connected with the GUAM member states since three out of four are facing this problem - Georgia, Azerbaijan and Moldova.

According to the Chairman of the session Zurab Abashidze, the documents condemn existence of external armed forces on these territories and according to the demand of Georgian side, the barb-wiring process across the occupation line was included in the documents also.

In general, the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly expressed concerns about the failure to resolve the conflicts within the organization's boundaries. The documents say that those conflicts are not only dangerous for GUAM member states, but also for the safety and stability of the whole of Europe. The GUAM assembly reaffirms its commitment to the principles of territorial integrity,  sovereignty and inviolability of internationally recognized borders principles.

"The parliamentary Assembly is concerned because of the actions aimed at legitimization of separatism and occupation (illegal visits of authorities to the occupied territories,Visits of separatists leaders to different cities, illegal economic activities in conflict zones and occupied territories, and putting barriers and wires across the occupation line of Abkhazia and South Ossetia) and calls on relevant parties to take measurements to prevent the actions which are incompatible with international law and norms", reads the document adopted today.

President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili already praised the declaration adopted by the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly.

"Occupation and creation of the new barriers, as well as supporting separatism, is totally unacceptable in 21st century. This is why strengthening international support has a great importance in terms of regulation of the contentious and sensitive issues. We once again welcome the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly participants and reaffirm our support of the initiatives which are aimed to strengthening cooperation and peace", reads the statement of the President Margvelashvili distributed today.

The 6th Parliamentary Assembly session of the GUAM member states has been held in Tbilisi during December 2-3. This year, Georgia remained the country of leadership for GUAM. However, now it is Moldova's turn to be the leader country of the organization based on the rotation principle recognized by member states. This means that the next parliamentary assembly of the organization will be held in Kishinev.

The strength of the GUAM is in our unity, AnatolieDimitriu, representative of Moldova said during the session summarizing press-conference today.  According to him, the upcoming 2014 will be of defining importance for the GUAM member states in terms of Euro-integration.
