Georgias integration in Euro-Atlantic Structures, Georgian-Russian relations, and Eastern Partnership issues were discussed during the meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze and John Kerry, the United States Secretary of State in Brussels.
The meeting was held in the framework of the NATO Foreign Ministerial. The Georgian ambassadors in the USA and NATO also attended the bilateral meeting that lasted for 30 minutes.
According to the Georgian Ambassador to the USA Archil Gegeshidze, the US Secretary of State John Kerry very positively assessed Georgias initialed Associated Agreement and promised to support Georgia on its way to European integration.
The Georgian Foreign Minister also discussed Russian-Georgian relations and situation across the so called occupation line with her American counterpart. Panjikidze mentioned that she told Kerry that there is very difficult to restore the trust between Georgia and Russia as the barbed wires that are installed on Georgian territory.
"Mr. Kerry and I talked about that possible pressure from the Russian Government before Georgia initials the Associated Agreement. Ukraine and Armenia are the perfect examples of this pressure and the threat from Russian government toward Moldova. John Kerry gave us advice not to be provoked and maintain the peaceful rhetoric. said Maia Panjikidze.
