Margvelashvili meets with the Presidents of the European Parliament and France

Georgian President holds bilateral meetings within the frames of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius. According to the Presidents Administration, Giorgi Margvelashvili met with the President of European Parliament Martin Schulz in hotel Kempinski today.

The colleagues discussed prospects of Georgian integration in Europe.

Margvelashvili expressed his gratitude towards Martin Schulz for his non-recognition policy and for the support and assistance in other fields.

The president also underlined the importance of initialing the Association Agreement. Martin Schulz positively evaluated Georgias European choice and noted that the European Parliament will continue Georgias support on the path for Euro-Atlantic integration and democratic transition.

The two sides also stressed the significance of the Eastern Partnership summit and discussed the perspectives of Georgia and Moldova.

Schultz expressed hope to meet the Georgian President, during his official visit to Brussels.

Later, Giorgi Margvelashvili met with the French President Francois Hollande. This meeting was also held within the frames of the Eastern Partnership Summit.  

Margvelashvili stressed the important role played by France during the 2008 Russian military aggression. The French president, for his part, underlined the significance of initialing the Association Agreement and expressed his support for Georgias European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

The sides also discussed deepening of cooperation in the fields of business, trade, tourism, agriculture, defense, immigration and crime-fighting.

At the end of the meeting, Margvelashvili invited his French colleague in Georgia and Hollande agreed to definitely pay a visit.
